5’9″ x 7’10”  / .1.75 x 2.38 . Other rug sizes and runners are available

The Yalameh handmade wool rugs are woven by a subset of the Luri group in the south-central part of Iran who once moved with their flocks of sheep but are now settled. They make vibrant rugs which have super soft lustrous local wool for the pile, woven on a wool warp and weft (foundation) stability. They use one to three medallions which are surrounded with latch-hooks motifs and like all the Persian tribal rugs the main design outline is generally set but the infilling of plants, flowers and animals is more free form from the weavers’ imagination.

The main ground colours are blue, red or ivory with many other tones as secondary and motif tones. Yalameh wool handmade rugs are more expensive than others of the ilk but they are very much a true artisan rug and worth the extra money.

Available sizes of Persian handmade Yalameh rugs are from mat to 12’x9’/3.66×2.74 as well as runners.

This example of a wool handmade Persian tribal Yalameh rug has luxuriously soft wool and good soft blue dyes.

Please use your rug with a suitable underlay which will protect the back of the knots and allow dirt to fall through the rug. Vacuum sparingly, once a week is sufficient, and do so on a low power and without the rotating brush, as this strips the pile. Clean professionally at least once every five years. Turn your rug every year if possible to even out footfall patterns and sun fading. Never leave your rug undisturbed under furniture in the dark. Keep a moth trap in the room if possible.
