Nain is a town in Central Iran which is relatively new to rug weaving. It makes a wide variety of qualities and sizes, mostly in red, blue or cream grounds. Many of the finer rugs have white cotton highlights which accentuate the realistically curvilinear floral motifs, which are copied from those of Isfahan rugs. many of the nain rugs lack a central medallion which makes them easy to furnish with, especially when the colours are cream and gold.
