Moud ( Mud ) is a village in NE Iran in the Khorassan district, which has the holy city of meshed as its capital. Moud rugs are related to the better know Birjand rugs and they share some characteristics. The pile is always wool and the base ( warp and weft ) is of cotton. The dyes are uniform and of a generally less heavy and sombre tone than of many other rugs from this region. Moud rugs are very good value for money and are heavy and comfortable – so ideal for a family space.
